What came out on Backwoodz in August?
Open Mike Eagle & Kenny Segal, DOOMED! (August 14, 2026). It's the first full album the two have made together: 15 songs in 41 minutes, which Mike calls "the world's first half-whimsical break-up album." The lead single, "Unfinished Concrete Initials," features Hemlock Ernst, better known as Future Islands' Samuel T. Herring. billy woods shows up on "She Swear I'm Colorblind."
Mike told Pitchfork that "every one of Kenny's beats is a chunk of ore from a different comet." It's his fourth album in four years.
What is Curly Castro's Yaphet about?
Curly Castro, Yaphet came out digitally on September 18, 2026, and the vinyl lands October 30. Castro, one half of ShrapKnel, built it around 1970s Blaxploitation films, using that era's heroes and antiheroes as a jumping-off point. Milwaukee producer Locust made every beat, and billy woods and Fatboi Sharif are among the guests. The first single was "The Delectable Negro."
It's his first solo album since 2021's Little Robert Hutton, and it's personal. "From facing the death of my infant daughter, to my father's death, to facing my own impending mortality, these are my most vulnerable blades, on my deepest cuts," Castro said.

When does Mike Ladd's Nonechosen come out?
Mike Ladd, Nonechosen arrives November 6, 2026 on vinyl, CD and cassette. The CD comes with a 20-page lyric booklet. The first single, "Twenty Five," features Tom De Getter.
Ladd is an underground legend who moved to Paris years ago. Many newer fans know him from his guest verse on billy woods' Aethiopes.
