The billy woods collaborator map: producers, guests and the Backwoodz house sound
Fifteen producers on one album and a guest list drawn mostly from his own label — a guide to the people who build billy woods records.

You cannot understand billy woods' catalog by looking only at billy woods. His records are collaborative to an unusual degree, and the same names recur for years.
The house team
Willie Green is the engineer. He mixed and mastered GOLLIWOG (opens in a new tab) at GreenHouse Recording Co. — every track except "Born Again," mixed by Kenny Segal, and "Corinthians," mixed by Joey Raia — and he mastered GOWILLOG as well. He also has his own Backwoodz artist page (opens in a new tab).
Steel Tipped Dove is the utility player: production on GOLLIWOG, co-mixing on GOWILLOG, and his own label collection page (opens in a new tab).
The album-length producers
- Kenny Segal — Hiding Places (2019), Maps (2023)
- Preservation — Aethiopes (2022)
- Messiah Musik — Church (2022)
- August Fanon — GOWILLOG (2025), the full remake of GOLLIWOG
- The Alchemist — Armand Hammer's Haram (2021)
Each one produces an entire project rather than a track, which is why woods' albums have such distinct identities.
The GOLLIWOG production crowd
For contrast, the 2025 album spread across fifteen producers: The Alchemist, Kenny Segal, EL-P, Conductor Williams, Preservation, Messiah Musik, Sadhugold, Ant (Atmosphere), Shabaka Hutchings, Steel Tipped Dove, DJ Haram, Willie Green, Jeff Markey, Saint Abdullah and Human Error Club.
Two of those are worth pausing on. Shabaka Hutchings is a jazz musician, not a rap producer. Human Error Club is an LA experimental jazz trio. Their presence is a good indicator of where woods' ear currently is.
The guests
woods rarely books features for reach. On GOLLIWOG the guest list was ELUCID and Cavalier from Backwoodz, plus Bruiser Wolf, Despot, Al.Divino and singer-songwriter Yolanda Watson.
Why this matters
The consistency of the credits is the point. A small pool of engineers and producers, most of them tied to the label, is how Backwoodz maintains a recognizable sound across a dozen artists — and how woods can release a fifteen-producer album that still sounds like one record.
