// who we are
About Sampled
An independent magazine about sound, style and scenes — written for the people actually making the music, not just consuming it.
Why we made this site
Most music coverage is either a press release with a headline on it or a review written for other critics. Meanwhile the practical stuff — how a producer contract actually works, which free plugins are worth installing, what a PRO does with your money, how a record gets registered and paid — is scattered across forums, PDFs and paywalls.
Sampled exists to put those two worlds in one place: the culture and the mechanics. New releases and scene reports sit next to gear breakdowns, rights explainers and a music glossary with hundreds of terms linked to free primary sources.
What we publish
- Music & Drops — releases, collabs and what actually came out this week.
- Scenes & Features — reporting from rooms, labels and rosters worth knowing.
- Production & Gear — plugins, synths, samplers, mics and the setups behind them.
- Business — contracts, royalties, metadata, distribution and getting paid.
- Upskill — free courses, certifications and reference material, plus the certification exam.
- Tech — AI, software, platforms and tools, inside music and across the wider creative space, because it all comes together.
- Fashion — because scenes have always had a uniform.
Who's behind it
Hi, I'm Robert Anthony (opens in a new tab) — I turn business and creative problems into useful digital products.
I help small businesses, nonprofits, and founder-led organizations turn ideas, outdated websites, manual workflows, and fragmented processes into focused websites, web apps, media platforms, and practical digital solutions.
I lead each project directly and bring in trusted collaborators, contractors, and AI-assisted workflows when needed — so you get the flexibility of a larger team without the overhead of a traditional agency.
Sampled is one of those products, built and run in the open. If you want something similar for your own organization, see portfolio and services (opens in a new tab).
How we work
Sources are linked inline and gathered in a "Sourced from" block at the foot of each piece. Images are credited to their rightsholder. Where a story touches something we have a stake in, we say so in the article. Our full sourcing, AI-assist and takedown policy lives on the legal page.
