Child Actor is reportedly one of Alchemist's favorite producers — and he came up through Backwoodz
Armand Hammer, Navy Blue, Open Mike Eagle, Quelle Chris, Moor Mother. Then CINE, the album that proved he could carry one himself.

Child Actor spent the last several years building a sound distinctive enough that the credits started arriving on their own. Backwoodz notes he has been repeatedly cited as one of Alchemist's favorite producers, and his beats have been sought out by Armand Hammer, Navy Blue, Open Mike Eagle and Quelle Chris.
The Backwoodz foundation
His come-up started at the label. He produced extensively for Armand Hammer — Shrines, We Buy Diabetic Test Strips, BLK LBL — and for billy woods and ELUCID individually on Terror Management and I Told Bessie. Add big records for Fielded (Plus One), Moor Mother (Brass) and ShrapKnel (Metal Lung).
CINE
His Backwoodz debut full-length is CINE with Cavalier, and the way he describes the process is the best explanation of his method anywhere. The beats kept pulling Cavalier back into one period of his life, so Child Actor built the post-production around that: "to use sounds and textures to turn whatever vague notions those beats might have been giving him into true sense memories." On "Sojourn," that meant weaving air brakes, running engines and stray passenger conversation into a song about bus depots.
Producer and rapper worked, in his framing, like a director and a cinematographer.
And now
His follow-up is Crayola Circles with Fatboi Sharif — a first meeting between two artists who had circled the label for years.
